AS400 L3 Application Support Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced AS400 L3 Application Support Specialist to provide advanced support for AS400/iSeries applications and production environments. This role is responsible for resolving complex incidents, performing root cause analysis, implementing application enhancements, and ensuring the stability and performance of business-critical systems.

What You'll Do

• Investigate and resolve complex incidents escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 Support teams
• Monitor production jobs, batch processes, and application performance
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective solutions
• Develop, modify, test, and deploy application fixes and enhancements
• Support incident, problem, and change management processes
• Troubleshoot application failures, job errors, and system issues
• Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles
• Collaborate with business users, developers, QA teams, project managers, and stakeholders
• Participate in continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives
• Provide after-hours support and participate in weekend on-call rotations when required

Must Have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in programming, application analysis, troubleshooting, and support
• At least 1 year of experience in Level 3 Application Support, Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on experience with AS400 / IBM iSeries environments
• Strong knowledge of:

  • COBOL

  • RPG

  • CL Programming

  • AS400 Commands

  • Query/SQL 400
    • Experience analyzing user requirements and translating them into technical solutions
    • Ability to test, debug, and support production applications
    • Strong communication and documentation skills
    • Willing to work on rotating shifts and weekend on-call schedules
    • Willing to work onsite at least three (3) days per week

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting enterprise or business-critical applications
• Knowledge of business processes and operational workflows
• Experience working in banking, insurance, retail, logistics, or similar industries
• Exposure to ITIL processes and service management practices
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including Developers, QA, Infrastructure, and Project Management teams
• Experience mentoring junior support team members
• Familiarity with application performance monitoring and production support tools

Work Schedule & Conditions:

  • May require shifting schedules (including mid-shift, night-shift) | Rotating shifts 
  • 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
