Job Summary
We are looking for an Application Support Engineer with strong experience in IBM System i (AS/400) and RPG IV to support and maintain critical business applications. The role involves troubleshooting application issues, analyzing system performance, implementing solutions, and collaborating with technical teams to ensure reliable system operations.
The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, contribute as a subject matter expert (SME), and provide effective technical support to users and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide application support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for critical business systems.
- Analyze application and system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Debug and troubleshoot applications developed using RPG IV on IBM System i (AS/400).
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement appropriate solutions.
- Perform application enhancements, fixes, and maintenance activities as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new application features and improvements.
- Document technical issues, resolutions, procedures, and knowledge articles for team reference.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users.
- Participate actively in team discussions and contribute ideas and solutions to technical challenges.
- Work independently and progressively serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned applications.
- Collaborate with other technical and business teams to ensure smooth application operations.
- Follow established software development, support, and change management processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Expert proficiency in IBM System i (AS/400) – RPG IV
- Strong experience in application support, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience debugging and resolving issues in RPG IV applications.
- Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software development methodologies.
- Knowledge of database management and data manipulation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently investigate issues and provide effective solutions.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Undergraduate profiles are not accepted.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting production applications in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with IBM System i/AS400 application maintenance and enhancements.
- Familiarity with incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Experience working with cross-functional technical teams.
- Previous experience serving as an SME or technical lead is an advantage.
Work Arrangement
- Work Setup: Hybrid
- Onsite Requirement: 2 days per week/month as required by the project
- Project Location: UT2 CG1, Taguig
- Working Hours: 45 hours per week
