We are seeking a COBOL Application Support Engineer to provide technical support for business-critical applications running in a COBOL Mainframe environment. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, analyzing, and resolving production issues while ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support daily operations, minimize system disruptions, and drive continuous service improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide production and application support for COBOL Mainframe applications.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents and production issues within agreed service levels.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
- Monitor application and system performance, proactively identifying and resolving potential problems before they impact business operations.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, and business teams to ensure application stability and reliability.
- Analyze system logs, batch jobs, and application outputs to diagnose technical issues.
- Document incident resolutions, troubleshooting procedures, and technical knowledge to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in team discussions and contribute to process improvements and operational excellence.
- Work independently while serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned applications and support activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience supporting applications in a COBOL Mainframe environment.
- Strong proficiency in COBOL Mainframe.
- Experience with IBM Db2 and IBM Information Management System (IMS) Database is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of mainframe operating environments, batch processing, and job scheduling.
- Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving complex production issues.
- Familiarity with system monitoring, log analysis, and performance tuning.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Work Setup
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid
- Onsite Requirement: 2 days per week
- Shift Schedule: Mid Shift (2:00 PM – 12:00 MN)
