Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based mainframe applications to support business requirements.
Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
Develop and modify programs using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, and VSAM.
Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues to ensure system stability and performance.
Participate in system testing, functional testing, and validation activities.
Support batch processing, job scheduling, and system integrations within the mainframe environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, testers, and production support teams.
Provide technical documentation including program specifications and process flows.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to existing systems.
Actively participate in team discussions and contribute solutions to technical challenges.
Work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned deliverables.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in COBOL Mainframe development.
Strong proficiency in COBOL and JCL.
Solid experience with DB2, IMS, and VSAM.
Working knowledge of TSO/ISPF, Endevor, ChangeMan, and FileAid.
Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving complex production issues.
Familiarity with batch processing and job scheduling tools.
Good to have: Experience with CICS, CA7 Scheduler, and z/OS API.
Experience in functional testing and validation is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
